Water Bottle
READ Matthew 10:40-42
And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.

A severe storm struck Connecticut in October of 2011. The trees were covered in thick ice, then high sustained winds arrived, causing limbs and entire trees to crack and crash to the ground. A broken power line spewed 13,000 volts of energy onto the grass in our front yard that first night. We called 911, but no emergency teams were dispatched to our house because they had more important issues to address. After nine days without power, a team of lineman from Alabama arrived and restored electricity to our street. We were thrilled when the lights came back on. (Our son now works as a lineman in North Carolina.)
During the power outage, homeowners staged storm debris along the street in front of their homes. Weeks later, a truck came by to pick up the broken branches. We were so glad they had come. It was hot that day, so I handed each member of the three-man crew a water bottle. One man gulped down the water in a few seconds, since he was so thirsty.
The verse for today informs us that God observes the little things we do to help others, like giving someone water to drink, and promises to reward us.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Little things done for others can make a big difference.
Prayer: Father in heaven, thank you for the utility personnel who provide electricity for us.
