Assurance of Salvation
READ Proverbs 16
Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.

Assurance of salvation issues arise when we think our eternal destiny depends on our continued perfect performance. If the requirement for entry into heaven, apart from Christ, is to live a perfect life (Matthew 5:48), even after accepting Christ as our Savior, then none of us would get in (Romans 3:9-20).
Once we believe in Jesus (John 3:16), repent of our sins (Luke 13:1-9), and ask him to save us from our sins (Romans 10:9), we become part of God's family (Ephesians 2:19), and no one can snatch us out of his hand (John 10:28-29). This sacred contract between us and God is certified by Christ's blood shed on the cross (1 Peter 2:24) and sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14). In fact, we’re already positionally seated with Christ in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 2:6).
Jesus saves us not only from the consequence of our sin (hell), but from the power of sin in our lives. As overcomers, we strive to obey God's commandments each day because we love him and want to please him (1 John 5:1-5). As overcomers, we strive to be holy each day to remain in fellowship with him (1 Peter 1:16). Doing these things are indications we belong to him, but we don't do them to earn our way into heaven.
The work of salvation is done (John 19:30). God is preparing a place for us in heaven (John 14:2-3). Our responsibility is simply to follow him and trust in the promises he has already given us (Proverbs 3:5-6).
