What’s the Most Important Question in Life?
READ Revelation 20:11-15
Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Question: What’s the most important question in life?
Answer: Is my name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life?
Revelation 20:11-15 describes the Great White Throne Judgment. It’s reserved for people from all time who did not put their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins while they were still alive. When an unbeliever dies, they go to a place called Hades to await this judgment (John 3:18). Hades is a place of darkness (Matthew 8:12), fire (Matthew 13:42), and agony (Luke 16:24) in the center of the earth (Matthew 12:40). Nonbelievers will be there for at least a thousand years (Revelation 20:4-6).
After Christ’s thousand-year reign on earth, all nonbelievers will be extracted from Hades and given a new eternal, indestructible body. Then they will appear before the Lord Jesus Christ to be judged (John 5:22-27). The book of the unbeliever’s life will be opened and their sins recounted. Another book, the book of life, will then be searched to determine if their name is recorded there (Revelation 20:12). If not, they will be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15). The lake of fire is filled with burning sulfur (Revelation 20:10). I imagine it’s comparable to lava that flows out of a volcano. While someone with a mortal body would be killed instantly if thrown into it, someone with an immortal body would remain conscious, undergoing excruciating suffering for all eternity.
How can you ensure your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life? Believe in the Lord Jesus (John 3:16), repent of your sins (Luke 13:1-9), and ask him to save you from your sins (Romans 10:9). Then, place all your trust and hope in him as you strive to follow his ways for the rest of your life.
