My octogenarian grandfather used to joke, “Oh, to be seventy again.” I was probably twenty-five at the time and thought seventy was a long way off. Now that I’m sixty-six and have five grandchildren of my own, seventy doesn’t seem so far off.
If you had the chance to inhabit a 2.0 version of yourself, would you take it? God promises his children he will one day give them new bodies infinitely better than the mortal ones we dwell in today. Physically, these bodies will experience no more pain, disease, or illness, be freed of any handicaps or deformities, be rid of excess fat and wrinkles, and be equipped with incredibly improved eyesight, hearing, and mental capacity.
Spiritually, we’ll be freed of the sin currently infecting us—no more impure thoughts, motives, desires, or actions. And if that isn’t enough, we’ll be filled with a joy so overflowing that it’s beyond description.
Version 2.0 is looking better every day. Come, Lord Jesus.
